Terrazzo was created several hundred years ago in Europe by Venetian craftsmen who combined marble chips with cement to form a beautiful and durable suface, and was introduced to America in the 1700s. President George Washington was impressed by this new design concept and designed his Mt. Vernon home with terrazzo floors to accentuate the most prominent rooms. Terrazzo Stone combines copper slag, stone chips or recycled glass with a high strength, highly durable concrete mixture for slabs of unsurpassed quality and style.
